A striking Japanese Satsuma-style covered vase featuring exceptionally detailed Rakan (Arhat) Buddhist figures, elaborate raised Moriage enamel, extensive gilt decoration, geometric brocade patterns and a deep black ground.
The shoulder displays the recognizable Shimazu family crest, traditionally associated with Satsuma ware. The piece has an ivory crackle-glazed interior and richly decorated exterior with hand-painted figures, gold halos, colorful robes and intricate raised detailing.
At approximately 10.5 inches tall and 5.5 inches wide, this is a substantial decorative and collector piece with strong visual presence.
